Founded in Florence in 1852 Fratelli Alinari is the oldest photography archive in the world. The birth of photography and the story of the archive are linked, as attested by the fund of over 3.500.000 photographs. The Archives and the Museum of History of Photography preserved the originals (glass plates, negative of films, vintage prints, colour photos) of the most Italian and non- Italian photographers ranging from the Alinari production to the present. This collection is ever-growing, through new acquisitions and new campaigns of colour photographs.
